Thatchings is a quiet place to ease the mind, body and soul.
Take a walk in the 300ha private Game Estate and you may well see zebra, black wildebeest, eland, red hartebeest, impalas, water buck, duiker, reed buck, blesbuck and monkeys to name a few of the resident animals. Abundant bird life ensures that no walk is without seeing something of the fauna of this beautiful region.
Trout fishing is available in 3 well stocked dams with rainbow and brown trout. Fishing is by prior arrangement and on a “catch & release” basis. Guests must have their own fly-fishing equipment. There is a rod fee. Fishing is closed in December, January and February.
Thatchings is perfectly situated for exploring the surrounding area with its wealth of experiences. There is easy access to the Drakensberg, San Rock art, Sani Pass and the Zulu and Anglo Boer war Battlefields.
